Plastic combustion generates a series of toxic gases, such as hydrogen cyanide (HCN), sulfur gases (SO₂, H₂S), nitrogen gases (NO, NO₂) and carbon monoxide (CO). The toxicity of gases is usually measured based on the amount of gases that cause fatal damage to the human body. Table 2 is the test results of the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) Smoke Laboratory, which confirms that the only toxic gas produced considerably is carbon monoxide（CO).
